Pantages Hotel - Things To Do In Toronto: Visit The ROM.

Art, culture, and natural history reside in the Royal Ontario Museum, creating an immersive experience for visitors. At any given time there are over 6 million items displayed in 40 galleries in the museum. From dinosaur fossil collections to eastern art, there is something to pique any interest in the ROM.

The building itself is something to see and experience, as old meets new in the interesting architecture of the ROM. The original building and east wing was designed in the Italianate Neo-Romanesque style. In 2007, the doors opened to the new multi-million dollar expansion called the ‘Crystal,’ a crystalline form clad in glass and aluminum.

Currently, the ROM has three feature exhibits that are must-see displays.

  1. Holt Renfrew partnered with the ROM to bring the works of Christian Dior to Toronto until March 18th, 2018. The brilliant designs and dramatic creations that restored the haute couture industry after the 2nd World War are on display for all to enjoy. Explore the creative process and mechanics of Parisian fashion after one of history’s most critical times. From romantic evening gowns to daytime wear, visitors will be fashionably transported back in time through the creativity and delight of this world-renowned fashion house.
  2. Take a peek into the lives of the legendary explorers, artisans, and craftspeople. VIKINGS: The Exhibition pays homage to this ancient culture that discovered much of the modern world as we know it. Trace their footsteps back 1000 years through the artifacts found in Canada and around the world that are now on display.
  3. In its fifth year, the world’s longest-running nature photography competition is on display. Featuring over 100 images from all around the world, this breathtaking exhibit gives viewers a never-seen-before glimpse into the animal kingdom.
