Detox to Retox: Our New Cocktail Menu at Stages

Cold-pressed juice is the detox drink of choice these days. Juice bars are popping up all over town; celebs swear by them. More health & wellness experts are getting on board. And for good reason. The hydraulic press production method of cold-pressed juice extracts foregoes the heat and/or oxygen used in traditional juice-making, which means no nutrients are lost.

We saw cold-pressed juice as an opportunity to add a bit of something different to the Pantages cocktail bar menu; the chance to swing by for a healthy pick-me-up after a long day of rehearsal or as a refreshing post-theatre alternative to a traditional mixed drink.

But then we started thinking…what if we mixed our favourite cold-pressed juices with our favourite spirits? What kind of crazy cool concoctions could we come up with? Would the detoxifying properties of the juice alter the retoxifying effects of the liquor?

There was only one way to find out. And find out we did.

Our mixologists took five of the most beneficial cold-press juices — apple (protects against cell inflammation), beet (improves exercise stamina) lemon (helps with skin quality), carrot juice (normalizes metabolism) and grapefruit (promotes weight loss) — and paired them with their favourite spirits.

Let’s just say that it’s never been more fun to go healthy.

Here are five new signature drinks. Next time you’re downtown for a show, come by for a Detox/Retox drink.
