The year 2023 could be THE year for Toronto theatre, with an events lineup featuring smash-hit musicals, classic dramas and innovative new productions. Tickets to these shows will be some of the most sought-after items in the coming weeks.
Princess of Wales Theatre
October 24th to November 26th, 2023
If you’re lucky enough to score tickets to this hit musical, prepare to be moved. Jagged Little Pill took Broadway by storm in 2019, and its success just keeps on growing. Based on Alannis Morisette’s life-changing music, it tells the story of bad decisions, joy, love, heartache, strength, wisdom, catharsis, life, and becoming better people. Some shows you see, and some shows you feel – this is definitely the latter. The Princess of Wales Theatre is a short cab ride or a 20-minute walk from Pantages.
Ed Mirvish Theatre
November 21st to November 27th
This history-making Broadway production from Academy Award Winner, Aaron Sorkin, is an adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Nuanced and emotionally-shattering, 60 Minutes called it the most successful play in American history.
Royal Alexandra Theatre
September 23rd to December 17th
History buffs and musical fans alike are going to love this production. Based around the 6 wives of Henry VIII, be dazzled as they remix 500 years of history and heartbreak. SIX won 23 awards in the 2021/2022 Broadway season, including the Tony Award for Best Original Score (Music and Lyrics) and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. October 1st to November 30th
Soulpepper Theatre is proud to host the 2023 Her Words Festival, which centres around Canadian female playwrights and emerging artists. See the theatre from a female, inclusive lens, and catch mainstage shows and talks like Wildwoman and The Guide To Being Fabulous. While a bit further from Pantages, it’s absolutely worth the commute this Fall.
Buddies in Bad Times Theatre
September 19th to October 1st
Inspired by experiences of growing up queer in the prevalent homophobia in Jamaica, this is an inspiring and uplifting story of growth and self-determination. A contemporary mash-up of poetry, dance, and pantomime, this is definitely a unique and inspiring piece that you won’t want to miss. Four Season’s Centre for the Performing Arts
October 6th to October 28th
Follow the story of tragic young lovers, trying to make their way as struggling artists in the world of Bohemian Paris. An absolute opera classic, written by the iconic Giacomo Puccini, see the world through another’s eyes as the story unfolds around you with the incredible talent of the Canadian Opera Company. The Four Season’s is a 15-minute walk or short drive from Pantages Hotel.
